What is a Sound Bath and Why you need one NOW!
A sound bath is a meditative experience in which you are bathed in bespoke combinations of sound and light frequencies. These powerful waves cascade over you in divine resonance to serve to harmonize your body, mind, and emotions.
Who are Sound Baths good for?
The answer is you! Anyone of any age including babies, children, the elderly, and pregnant women (with caveats as to the first trimester) can enjoy a sound bath. Sound baths are particularly useful for people who find it difficult to turn off their overactive minds, suffer anxiety or panic attached and who have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Furthermore, they can spark your creative fires or work to heal energetic patterning creating blockages in personal relationships or careers.
The frequencies I use slow down brain waves to the point where deep rest and rejuvenation can be efficiently accessed to help you reach clarity on a particular issue you may be processing either consciously or subconsciously. Clients report better sleep quality, a more balanced emotional state as well as increased energy and renewed creative vision.
Children’s Sound Baths
With regards to my work with children, children are naturally receptive to music, and as they tend to live in the moment far more than us adults allow ourselves they are able to receive the work fully. Sound and energy healing can greatly aid empathic or ‘highly sensitive children who are sensitive to both their environment and others’ emotions. These children may be more nervous in nature and many have difficulty sleeping or interacting as they take on the emotions of others or feel a great responsibility to help resolve others’ pain or the problems of the world at large. Sound healing and learning basic mindfulness and breathwork can help children of all ages with their sleep quality and calm nervous tummies.
Older children who are sitting exams can be assisted with their preparation with sessions incorporating a dynamic combination of movement, sound work, mindfulness, and aromatherapy to help them feel calmer, more integrated mentally and emotionally, and therefore better prepared to achieve their academic goals. This work can also assist with concentration, confidence, and achieving success in a competitive sports environment for those children who swim, dance, practice gymnastics, play tennis, football or rugby competitively.
What does a typical Sound Healing / Sound Bath class look like? How do I prepare for a Sound Bath?
I recommend you prepare a quiet space for yourself where you will be undisturbed and are warm enough. You should have a yoga mat, an optional eye pillow, a blanket to hand, and a pair of wireless headphones if your session is online. You will first be welcomed into the space by me and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have in order for you to feel comfortable. We will then open space I will take you through a movement, yoga or breath work practice (sometimes we will combine all three) to open up the body and move any stagnant energy out. This will also serve to take your mind away from what you were doing before you arrived at your mat. You will then be invited to lie down in a comfortable position on your mat (you can also sit in a comfortable chair if lying down is not possible) supported with your eye pillows, blankets and/or bolsters as is your preference. If we are incorporating scent, for increased therapeutic benefit, then a bespoke selection of essential oils will be diffusing in the air and you will have also been invited in the breathwork sequence to apply an oil blend to certain acupressure points on the body. You will then be asked to close your eyes and simply relax. This is your time to let go. This is your space.
I will invite you to let the sounds that I play from the gongs, crystal bowls, and other assorted percussive instruments wash over you, your body relax and your thoughts drift into the distance like passing clouds. Whatever experience you have in our time in session together is completely perfect and will be unique for everyone. At the end of the bath, the sound will play out and you will gently be brought around with grounding breaths and subtle movement.
I suggest that you take time to integrate after your session and keep well hydrated, try and have a slower rest of the day and an earlier night if possible. This will really help seal the work and you may receive creative inspiration in the days after, experience emotions come up for recognition and healing, or you may just feel like you want to sleep more, whatever experience you have is perfect and exactly what you need in the now moment.
